Shoot from the ElbowTuesday, just outside Colonial Quad, 2:39 pm. Normally I'd say, ewww crap shot, but if you consider Nitsa and her "no rules street photography" thinking, it kind of works. Today's broken rule: keep subject in frame, and if moving, leave space in front of them. I shot this without even looking through the camera. I crossed my arms, held the camera in one hand by my elbow, and stopped walking for half a second to click now and then. :: Kazen @ Always Doing 10:49 AM [+] :: :: ... 0 comments

This is lovely... nicely exposed... I love the blue and orange tones together and the lines and perspective work very well. Nice shot! charlie - alwayscurious.com
Charlie - You're too kind! I had nothing to do with the exposure, I just pushed the button, hehe. The joys of a 3.2 mega pixel point and shoot...
Elizabeth - You should see the lights they have in front of the campus center now--orange, like for Halloween, but all year. >_< For those not familiar, the blue lights on the Performing Arts Center mean a school sponsored production is going on. This night it was a showing of Arcadia--I couldn't resist snapping this as I passed!
The colors in this are so pretty. Have you thought about moving in closer and isolating just a part of the building's architecture?

This shot was luck... a "put the camera down on the table, press the shutter and hope" kind of thing. It's nice when things turn out. :) :: Wednesday, April 20, 2005 :: Class to ClassNext to Social Science building, 1:30 pm. :: Kazen @ Always Doing 12:53 PM [+] :: :: ... 1 comments

It is Ari! He was doing great in the runup to season's end, but bombed in the last two games. :/ He went into this game halfway through, and injured his hand in the third period. The main goalie was off with an injury of his own, though, so he was a trooper and stuck it out. Otherwise he's had a decent year.

:: Thursday, April 14, 2005 :: Digital Cameras are FunWell, I currently got a hold of the digital camera I'll be using in Japan. It's actually my family's camera--they're giving it to me so they can get a new shiny one. It annoys me quite a bit--lousy manual settings, only 3.2 megapixels--but I'm getting to use it for free, so I can't complain. ^_^ I took it with me to classes today and had a lot of fun taking pics as I walked around. A lot of them stunk, but that's what the erase button is for! Bwahahaha. So, at least for a little while, I'll be posting pics up here. I live on campus, so guess what these first shots are going to be of. -_^ Our campus is very... distinctive. Edward Durell Stone designed it, and he is considered a second-rate modernist at best. The whole place screams 1960's. There are lots of "obvious" shots, and I'm getting all of those out of the way so my mind can move on to more interesting compositions. So bear with my skills for now. Oh! Also bear with the quality--3.2 megapixels plus Stone's vertical lines equals mud when I'm limited to a little over 500 pixels width. If anyone ever wants a hq version drop me a line and I'll send one your way. Eeeep, that was a long way of saying I'm posting a picture! Without any further ado, here it is: :: Kazen @ Always Doing 6:36 PM [+] :: :: ... 0 comments

:: Wednesday, April 13, 2005 :: Second to Last Rat Home GameI love hockey so much. I love the game, so fast-paced and exciting and deep. Jumping up and down, screaming for goals and overtime wins and our fighter beating up your "fighter". -_^ Over the ten(!) years I've been going to River Rat games I've met tons of amazing people. And you know what? The coolest and most interesting people I know aren't the players or the broadcasters or the front office people, but my 50/50 customers. I've grown to know them over the past five seasons by selling tickets and yelling "Fafty-fafty here!" in an obnoxiously loud voice. Why you guys still walk up to me, with all that yelling, I'll never know. Here's to my 50/50 customers! I love you guys! At tonight's game I had my picture taken with a bunch of them (thanks to my Mom, yea Mom!)... about half, I think. I'll grab the other half at Saturday's game. I want to share their pictures with you, so here we go! Darlene and Company Joe. Poor guy tore a ligament and is on crutches--get well soon!!! Steve These two ladies buy from me every game without fail. Once I got them within three tickets of the money! I'm still working on their winning ticket. ^_^ Matt. Just recently he saved someone's life by doing CPR! He kept a cool head and did what was needed in the situation. Way to go, Matt! David The Ladies Moses. (Long story.) Paul, you're too shy! -_^ Kevin, on the right, is an off-ice offical. Often he runs the game clock or keeps order in the home penalty box. Kevin and Company. Kevin is a farrier and his awesome conversations make a twenty minute intermission go by in three seconds flat. ^_^ Okay, that's it for now... I hope I get to see the rest of you Saturday! I totally have to go to a game with you now, you know that, right? -_^ :: Monday, April 11, 2005 :: My Urban Eyes - I Do ExistClick here for the mp3 here. Due to a glich in my rss feed people with podcatchers/aggregators may get the file twice--my apologies. In This Episode: - "I do exist" - April 1st show (no joke!) - Karla meets concrete - Earth Tone show (no dash in the link, I goofed) In the show I play some music loops, here are their names, in order: - Plucked Strings - Rabbit March - Guitar Riff - Jazzy - Piano Do you like the music? Hate the music? Let me know which loop(s) you like, and if you want to hear any at all on my cast! Sorry so brief here, but the 'cast says it all. ^_^ Peace! Not too crazy about any of those clips. Your voice seems melodic enough for me to be just fine unadorned. :)
I like the same three you do -- plucked strings, jazz and beatnik finger-snaps. The beatnik would be especially cool under your voice, for a short burst, I think.
BYW, please talk about the music sites you found and how to find those same loops? -- Andy
Thanks for the comments, Andy! Yea for similar musical tastes! ^_^ I think I'm going to open my cast with the plucked strings for a little while... until I get sick of it, anyway. ~wink~

I'll be sure to talk about the loops in my next cast. Here's a link to hold you over: http://www.flashkit.com/loops/ I'll explain the rest in the cast. Thanks for the input!
